Jack Blaine named Smartmatic President

Boca Raton, October 4, 2004.-
Smartmatic Corporation, a Boca Raton-based provider of highly-secure device networking technologies, today named Jack A. Blaine as President, Worldwide. At Smartmatic, Mr. Blaine's wide-ranging responsibilities will include overseeing a corporate reorganization to accommodate further global growth as well as the U.S. certification process for the Company's electronic-voting solution and ultimate entry into the U.S. market.

As Executive Vice President of Unisys Corporation (UIS-NYSE) and President, Worldwide Sales & Services, Mr. Blaine played a key role in the Fortune 500 firm's turnaround and transformation from a product technology to a technology services firm. In this role as a direct report to the CEO, he managed $6 billion in revenue, along with 25,000 professionals in 40 countries.

At every stage of his 19 year career at Unisys, Mr. Blaine played a pivotal role in increasing both profitability and market share, including executing a significant organizational turnaround. Prior to his role as Executive Vice President and President of Worldwide Sales and Services, Mr. Blaine held various positions including President of the Pacific Asia, Africa and Americas Group, General Manager of the Latin America and Caribbean Division and Chief Human Resources Officer.

In 2003, Mr. Blaine founded Winning Internationally LLC, an early stage firm specializing in the turnaround of underperforming international operations, new business development and enhanced financial performance. Mr. Blaine began his career at Ford Motor Company, where he served in a variety of managerial positions, including General Manager of Brazil Export Operations, Corporate Controller of Ford Brazil, and Ford's Product Development Group and Finance Staff.

Prior to joining Ford, Mr. Blaine was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He graduated with honors from UCLA and holds a Masters of Business Administration, with a finance concentration, from the University of Detroit.
